Hello everyone, it has been quite a while since I was on here. I still don't have internet at home so only get on here once in awhile from elsewhere. I have been doing a lot of stitching but have no photos to show unfortunately. Right now I am working on Summer Retreats by Country Cottage Needleworks. I am almost finished with Ladybug Lane, and have already finished Honeybee Hideout and Butterfly Bungalow. I am going to make all three of them into small decorative pillows.

Hello everyone

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. It's been quite a while. Thank you to everyone for your kind comments, I really appreciate them. I still don't have internet and it will probably be a long while before I do, but I am doing just fine. I have been getting a pretty fair amount of stitching done. Right now I am almost finished with a project by Kustom Krafts called Early Light Cardinal. I am doing it for my boyfriend for Christmas. I can't post a photo right now, but it is a beautiful project.

I am at my sister's right now for a few days of vacation, relaxing and enjoying the visit.

I hope everyone is doing well, and I will pop in again from time to time. Again, thanks everyone for thinking of me, and I miss all of you as well.

Letting Go of Internet

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I have posted. I have been working on things, just haven't got anything scanned in.

After a lot of serious thought, I have decided to let go of my internet and landline for now for financial reasons. I hope to gt them back at some point but it will be a while. I will still have my hotmail and yahoo accounts, which I will be able to check from the library from time to time.

In regards to my PIF, I have one finished, one almost finished, and one more to do and will definitely be getting those out one of these days soon. I will still have this blog but I won't be able to post as often or post any photos. Thank you so much to everyone who has stopped in here to visit, I will miss coming on here.

I am working on several things but I don't have any pictures to show yet.

I just checked out a new stitching blog. It is called Lisa's Stitch and Share, and she has got some really beautiful things on there. She just started it this month.

I have finished one of my PIF projects and I am ready to put the second one together. Then I have one more to do. I am also working on a wedding announcement for my son and will have a photo soon to show of that.

I am so excited! I just received my PIF package from Elisa at Old Ragged Threads in the mail today. It actually came just in time for my birthday, which is tomorrow, so that is pretty neat. She stitched a pinkeep for me, with a little stitching fairy on it. She also included some other goodies along with it, which are in the photo. The little green box that says "apple" on it contains a little apple scented eraser. The fairy is a freebie that she stitched from Cara Mia, on 32 count white Jobelan with Ozark Sampler Threads, in Aladdin. I am currently working on my PIF projects as well. This is the very first PIF that I have ever taken part in and I am really enjoying it. Thank you so much Elisa for including me in yours!

Small Quaker Finish

Here is another small piece that I did. I actually did it before I did the biscornu, but I am just now getting it scanned. It is one of the motifs from the Mon Ami Pierre Quaker freebie that I have. I did the whole large piece earlier and decided to use this motif for a needlebook that I am getting ready to make. I did it on 28-count Angel Blush lugana with Azalea thread from Weeks Dye Works. I am working on one of my 3 PIF projects right now as well, so I won't be able to show any photos of that until it gets sent off to it's new home. So, I am keeping busy anyhow.

My First Biscornu

I just finished my first biscornu ever, and I am pretty happy with it. It isn't perfect but I like it. I scanned it the best I could considering I don't have a digital camera. I will at least not be afreaid to make another one.

Tante Zolder Finish

Last night I finished stitching on my Tante Zolder butterfly freebie. I was intending to do it all in one color but changed my mind. I did it on Angel Blush 28-count Lugana with DMC thread, and I am going to make it into a biscornu. I have never made a biscornu before, but I think I will be able to do it ok. I have read several tutorials on them and it looks like it would not be too difficult. (Hopefully).

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Mine was a quiet one. My Valentine and I do not live in the same town so we don't see each other as often as we would like, but we talk every day, and we did get to see each other earlier in the week, so all is well.

It is a nice sunny day here today but not as warm as it could be. I'm just glad it's not raining or snowing.

Valentine Surprise!

I had a wonderful surprise yesterday when I went downstairs to check my mail-a Valentine package from a friend in Florida with whom I did a Christmas ornament exchange this year. It was awesome and totally unexpected. Along with the things in the picture there was also a little box of Russell Stover chocolates and two Valentine Tootsie Pops! One of the things in the photo is a little notebook with a neat little inkpen. And I love the heart bookmark and pin. Now, one of these days I will surprise her with something!

I am currently working on a Tante Zolder freebie of a butterfly. I have done this same chart before in multi-colors, but this one I am using one color over one on a small piece of Angel Blush lugana. I am thinking maybe trying my hand at a biscornu with it when it is finished. That will definitely be something new for me but I have no doubt that I can do it.

It has been longer than I intended since I have been on here, but I do finally have something to show for my time away. It is the Quaker freebie from Mon Ami Pierre and I am doing it on blue 28-count Monaco with Gentle Arts Sampler Thread, Purple Iris. I am really enjoying it. I started it the day before Christmas and I am almost done with it. It is rather large but the photo doesn't show anywhere near all of it because I don't have a camera and it wouldn't all fit in the scanner, but it shows the general idea anyway.

I also have done a few other Christmas ornaments but have not got them scanned yet.

I have three projects to do for the PIF that I am taking part in this year and I plan on getting started on them very soon. I haven't decided what to do yet but I do want them each to be something special and maybe a little different than anything I have done before.

This is what I was working on for the SAT at Let's Stitch for this week. I just finished it a few minutes ago. I got it from the 2004 JCS Christmas ornament issue.

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I know I did. I had dinner with one of my co-workers and her family. She had invited me and another one of our co-workers, as neither of us had any plans for the day. I was just going to hang out at home, as I am going down home for a visit next week, for a four-day weekend. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and the dinner was excellent. I took her one of my ornaments that I had finished for a thank you gift, and she really liked it a lot. Afterwards I came home and relaxed and started the ornament that I just posted here.

Angela at Hooked on Stitches has just tagged me. So, here are 6 random facts about me:

1. Like Angela, I am a night owl also. (even on work nights). I very seldom get to bed before at least 11 on weeknights, and it's anybody's guess on weekends. I am definitely not a morning person either.

2. Most of those nights that I am up late-I'm stitching and/or watching movies. I have a certain few that I tend to watch the most-such as all the Harry Potter movies, and any of the Jane Austen stuff-Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Becoming Jane. I recently acquired "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, and I have watched it quite a bit as well.

3. I love to read too and when I was younger you very seldom saw me anywhere without a book in my hand. I haven't read very much lately because I have mostly been stitching in my free time.

4. I love music, all different kinds of music, especially Rock and Celtic. I have a guitar but I haven't played it much lately. A long while of a lately.

5. I love making Christmas ornaments, which is why this is my favorite time of year for stitching. I also like to make them out of felt, with beads and buttons and sequins and bits of fabric. This is on top of the fact that I love to stitch all year long to begin with.

6. Last but not least, I love, love, love spending time with my Grand-darlings. I have 4-3 boys and 1 girl, ranging in age from 1 to 7. Did I mention that they are my darlings?

I just now finished this, and here it is. I changed out all of the colors they had listed, but they are pretty close from what I could see in the photo in the magazine. I like them, anyway. Now to figure out the next one to stitch. I'm really glad I like doing this because I still have at least a dozen left to stitch. I really am having a lot of fun with this. And in a week or two I will be having even more fun because I have the 2004, 5 an 6 JCS ornament issues coming, that I have bought from a fellow stitcher over at 123Stitch. I have been drooling over them anyway and when I saw that someone had them on offer I jumped right in there.

This is how far I've gotten on "Peace" from My Big Toe Designs. I participated in the Friday night SAT over at Let's Stitch this evening. I didn't get as far as I intended to, but I still think I made pretty good progress. I am pretty close to half finished with it.

Snowy Night Finished

I meant to put this in a frame but couldn't find one the right size for it, so I just made a little pillow out of it instead. It didn't turn out perfect, but it is ok and I know that my boyfriend will like it very much. His birthday is actually tomorrow, but it will be next week before we see each other, to give it to him. (We don't live in the same town). He knows I am making him something but he doesn't know what it is. I was looking for a 4" by 4" frame but couldn't find anything less than 4" x 6".

I haven't decided what ornament to do next but I know I will have it figured out in time for the SAT at Let's Stitch, for tomorrow night. I have several left to do yet.

Snowy Night Finished

I just finished Snowy Night, designed by Pamela Byrd Smith of The Prairie Schooler. I absolutely love this one. I am actually going to put it in a small frame and give it to my boyfriend for his birthday tomorrow. He loves birds and my stitching, so I know he will really like it. I haven't decided what to stitch yet, but it will be another ornament from the 2008 JCS issue.

I just finished another ornament-this one is "Starry Night" by Tina Richards Herman at Shepherd's Bush. I got the chart from the JCS 2008 ornament issue. It was stitched on 25 count Zweigart Light Blue Dublin Linen, using DMC threads. I didn't have the charm that was on the chart so I added a star instead, but I really like how it turned out.

Let It Snow

Here is another one I just finished stitching from the 2008 JCS Christmas issue. It is called "Let It Snow", and was designed by Nikki Leeman at Country Cottage Needleworks. Also done on mystery linen, with DMC threads. I used Kreinik blending filament for the silver stars because I didn't have what they called for, but it worked out very well. It was another fun stitch, for sure, I loved it! Now I am getting ready to choose yet another one.

I just finished my first ornament from the 2008 JCS Christmas issue. It is "A Christmas Song" by Lynda Watkins, from Full Circle Designs. I stitched it on a mystery linen, using DMC threads. I didn't have all the colors I needed so I switched some out, but I still like how it turned out. I have several more to make, as I am making a set of three for the bank for a Christmas giveaway, and I am making some for my co-workers. I am also taking part in an ornament exchange over at 123Stitch, so I am going to be making one for that as well. I love making ornaments, so I am having a lot of fun with this.

JCS Ornament Issue

I just got my JCS Christmas Ornament issue a couple of days ago and I love it. I have decided to put aside my Victorian Charm project for a little while so I can get going on the ornies. I am making a set of 3 ornaments to give away in a drawing at work, for our customers for Christmas, and I am also making some for each of my co-workers, as well as myself, etc. etc. I started on one of them last night and I will post a photo of it when it is done. It is stitching up really quick.

I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who are following my blog. I am glad you stop in. I am pretty new at this, having only started this blog in January, and it is really neat reading everyone's comments and checking out their blogs. I have been inspired to do things I might not have tried otherwise, like working on evenweave or linen instead of just aida. It also inspires me to stitch more and finish more as well.

Scissor Fob

I found the neatest pair of earrings in the gift shop at Powell Gardens this afternoon. They were 50% off and I couldn't resist them. They are called Mille Fleur, by Two's Company. I don't have pierced ears so of course, the first thing I thought of when I saw them was "scissor fob!" So I twisted the little ear part through the handle on my scissors and back around the earring and it was perfect! And of course, I have one left over. The scan does not do it justice, but hopefully you can sort of get the idea of how pretty it is. Anyway, I have one left over, so, if anyone would like to have the other for the same reason, I will be happy to do a drawing for it. If anyone is interested, just leave a comment here and on Monday evening after I get home from work I will draw a name and someone can have it.

More Progress on Victorian Charm

Here is my latest progress on Victorian Charm. It won't be long now until it won't fit in my scanner and I will have to scan it in sections. I am having a lot of fun with this one. I love workng on this.

It's kind of chilly here today but I think it is supposed to warm up this afternoon. I am going to enjoy part of the day with a friend at Powell Gardens, a beautiful botanical garden with all kinds of neat stuff. They have got some Halloween stuff going on right now which will be pretty cool.

Needleminder

I found the neatest thing when I was reading my on-line newsletter from 123Stitch the other day. It is a needleminder. They had several really beautiful ones to choose from, and they are not very expensive at all. I ordered one for my Aunt for Christmas. It has a cat and is kind of in the Wedgewood style. I am seriously thinking of ordering another one for myself at some point. The scan isn't very good, but it kind of gives an idea of what it looks like.

I am making good progress on Victorian Charm but I don't have any more photos yet. I have been adding back all the things I lost when I tried to change my layout. I have been stitching today and mostly just being lazy. It looks like it might try to rain at some point but it is still a beautiful day. I hope everyone is doing well.

Frustrated today

I don't have any photos to show today. I am a little frustrated because I decided to change my layout, and lost almost all of my page elements, so I changed back to my old one and said heck with it, and put back most of the things I lost, but not all. I will content myself from now on with just changing my header photo once in a while. Oh well.

A wonderful weekend

I still don't have any photos of my Victorian Charm because I haven't changed positions yet on my q-snaps. I really hope one day to have a digital camera so I can take photos without having to put stuff in the scanner. I have been making good progress though.

Yesterday I had a really wonderful day. I went to Kansas City with a couple of friends, to Nelson Art Gallery and we spent most of the day there. We also had a picnic on the grounds, which was nice. The weather was absolutely beautiful for it. It had been a good ten years since the last time I was there, so I was really glad to be able to go. I have several "favorite things" that I like to visit when I am there, and I got to see all of them yesterday. On the way home, we stopped at Hobby Lobby in Lee's Summit, and I was able to get a few things. I added to my stash a little bit. I got four skeins of DMC Color Variations thread, and a skein of DMC Fuschia colored satin thread. Also a HUGE piece of 14-count black Aida fabric. I got a new pair of embroidery scissors as well. They were made in the Victorian style, and I love them. I want to make a scissor pocket for them at some point. After we got back to Warrensburg, we went to Dairy Queen for a perfect ending to a perfect day out. Then I got home and stitched the rest of the evening. I love weekends like that, they are so relaxing, although I admit that I was pretty worn out from all the walking we did at the art gallery. That place is huge, and we went on several floors of it.

Today I am going to relax and do some more stitching on Victorian Charm.

What I am working on now

Hi, I haven't been on here for a few weeks so I thought I would just update on what I have been working on. I don't have any photos yet because the project is still in my q-snaps, but I will put it in my scanner when I get ready to go to another section. The project is called Victorian Charm, from Sunset, and I have posted a copy of the photo that came in the kit. I am really enjoying working on it. I have got most of the second floor of the house finished.

The second week of this month I went on vacation to Kansas to visit my son and my Grandkids. I had a very good visit.

Caffe' Latte Finished

I finished Caffe' Latte last night and I am very pleased with it. And the good thing is, I think I have enough thread to do another one for myself. Now, I think I might do some more Christmas ornaments, since doing the ornie for the Christmas Ornament SAL has put me in the mood for it.

I am enjoying a 3-day weekend right now. I go back to work tomorrow. Then, starting Friday immediately after work I will be having a weeks vacation, at which time I am going to go visit my kids and my grand-darlings in Kansas.

Caffe' Latte Progress

I started this a week or two ago. It is Caffe' Latte from Little House Needleworks. When it is finished it is going to go on a box lid. The box is papier mache' and I will be painting it in colors to complement the needlework, and the coffee theme. The box is going to be a gift for one of my co-workers. I am really enjoying working on this, and the neat thing is, I think there will be enough thread left over to do another one if I want to at some point, for myself. I got the chart and thread from 123Stitch. I really like ordering from them. They are always very quick to get the order out, and are very nice people.

A couple of days or so ago I joined a Christmas SAL group that I found while poking around on-line. I love stitching Christmas ornaments and I have started, and made good progress on the one for this SAL. The SAL's are the 4th week of each month, and we can stitch from the themes listed on the blog, or we can choose our own. I will post a photo of mine as soon as it is finished, which I am hoping will be tomorrow.

I have also added a few more blogs to my favorite links section. I will be adding more later.

Some crafting stuff

I have been doing some stitching this week but do not have any pictures. I have also been doing some crafting with felt. I have been making mini-pennies from Button Stitch Designs, and have been having a lot of fun doing it. I finished two from the Autumn set, with two more to go. Then I have a set of four Christmas ones to do. I love making things from felt, especially Christmas ornaments, which I will be doing soon.

I have done a good amount of stitching this week, just don't have a photo to show for it. It is a larger project that won't fit in my scanner and I don't have a digital camera, although that is definitely on my wish list. So, I have been on here doing maintenance type stuff-adding links, etc. I will probably add more soon, now that I have remembered again how to do it.

I really enjoyed my vacation days I took last week. I did a lot of stitching and reading, and watched a lot of movies, just as I had planned on doing. I hung around home for the most part and just relaxed, and it was heaven!

I just finished another little freebie from The Cross Stitch Directory called "Hearts and Flowers". It also is 2 over 2 on 28 count Monaco. I started it last night. I used DMC Color Variations for it. It was a lot of fun to work on.

I am enjoying a few days of vacation from the bank, which started today. I finished a small project last night called "Tudor" which was a freebie from The Cross Stitch Directory. I really had a lot of fun doing it. I went with 2 over 2 this time on the 28 count Monaco, and it turned out really nice. I have another small project that I am getting ready to start and I will post it when it is finished as well.

It is pouring down rain here at the moment but I don't mind a bit, it's a nice relief from the heat we have been having.

Redbird finished

I finished my redbird freebie from Tante Zolder's site last night. I used DMC Color Variations thread on it. It was done one over one on 28 count Monaco. I am not sure I like the colors I chose for the leaves and flowers, but it's not too bad. I haven't decided what to work on next, having several possibilities open to me.

I only work two days this coming week and then I have a few days off and I am going to relax at home, reading, and working on my stitching. I plan to enjoy myself immensely.

Friday I received my chart for HAED's Celestial Night and the fabric for it from 123 Stitch. The chart was on sale and I have had my eye on it for a while. I am not starting on it yet, but am very happy to have it waiting in the wings. I was very pleased with how quickly they ship out their orders. I also ordered some Q-snaps yesterday and I am definitely looking forward to receiving them.

Another Finish

I finished my Valentine Heart last night and I am really pleased with it. My eyes are only a little crossed after working on it LOL. It is the first project I have done on evenweave and one over one. I enjoyed doing it and will definitely do more. I plan to put this in a small tuck pillow. I purchased the perfect piece of fabric for it Saturday at a local shop called Primitive Stitches. Melissa there has a wonderful array of fabrics to choose from.

I think my next project will be a freebie from Tante Zolder's site. It is a small bird surrounded by leaves and flowers. I haven't decided if I want to do it monochrome or use several colors. Right now I am thinking DMC color variations (reds) for the bird and green leaves. I haven't decided on the flower colors yet. I am not sure how I will finish it yet but I am thinking maybe a bookmark for a friend of mine here in Warrensburg who loves birds.

Finally some finishes to show

It's been a while since I've been on here, but I finally have some finishes to show. I am also trying something new for me. I have never worked on evenweave before, so I decided to try it, and started small with a freebie from Pelin Tezer called Happy Valentine. I am stitching it one over one on 28 count Monaco. So far I like it pretty well. I also finished my "Older, Better" that I was working on, and a butterfly chart from the Tante Zolder website. Also a chart in red that was also a freebie, but I can't remember where it was from. So, between stitching and work, I have been staying pretty busy.

Bird Round Robin finished at last

I finally got the last part of my Bird Round Robin in the mail yesterday, although it has been finished for a little while. And mine is on it's way home to me. I am so excited about it and I can't wait to see what the other ladies have stitched on it.

I am almost finished with my "Older, Better" piece. I have been working on it for most of this month. It is all done except for the backstitching on two of the ladies. I haven't decided what I will do with it after it's done. Then, I have several WIP's to choose from for my next project, or, I can start the birth announcement I am planning on doing for my niece, who has a baby due in October. I already have the kit, and have had it for a while now. I am also going to be doing some sewing for her because she wants me to make some crib sheets for her, and a quilt and curtains for her nursery, and bumber pads as well. I told her I would do that for her when she was pregnant with her twins, which were born premature this time last year,which she lost within the first hour after they were born. She had me keep the materials until "next time". I am happy to report that all is going well this time.

Not a lot going on here this week. I have been making progress on my latest WIP. Not been doing much other than that-mostly working every day at the bank. We had pretty nice weather for a couple of days and then it got cold and rainy again, but I understand it's supposed to be nice over the weekend.

Latest Round Robin Finish

I am finally finished with the Bird Round Robin that I have been working on. I got the Cedar Waxwing in the mail last week, and the little Chickadee is ready to go in the mail tomorrow. I have also put on a photo of what I am working on now. It is called "We're Not Older, We're Better", by JanLynn, and it is a lot of fun to work on. I only started it a couple of days ago, and have already made quite a lot of progress on it. I have really enjoyed the Round Robin, but I am glad to be back at work on some of my own things for a while. I have decided to take a break from RRs for a while.

I don't seem to get on here very much but I just don't seem to have a lot of time after working all week.

Spring is trying to come here, but it's been pretty cold the last couple of days and it was spitting snow yesterday. Thank goodness the flowering trees are all still doing ok. We had a freeze last year right after they bloomed and it ruined them.

Well. I am off agin to go work on my stitching some more.

Not much going on around here this weekend, just relaxing. I put another Round Robin in the mail yesterday-the swan that I had finished. Just didn't have time to get to the Post Office until yesterday. Now I am working on the next leg of the RR, which is a Cedar Waxwing. I will post a photo as soon as I finish it.

I just finished one leg of my Bird RR and it is ready to go in the mail to the next person. Then I will be digging out the colors for the next segment.

It's been longer than I realized since I have been on here. I haven't been doing a lot of stitching lately, although I have been working on my bird RR this afternoon. I have been working on some crocheting this past week instead of cross-stitching. I have been making potholders, of all things. I also started an afghan with the scraps left over from the potholders.

We have had a lot of snow here lately, and everyone is ready for Spring. I know I sure am. I am ready for flowers and green grass and trees with leaves on them.

Not mush else has been going on here lately other than going to work every day. We had a holiday Monday so I had a three-day weekend last week which was very nice. Got a lot done, just not any sewing. The week before was an emotional one, as a family friend passed away on the 8th and I had a funeral to attend down home. He was also my nephew's father, and was only 46-he had health problems, I understand. He and my sister have not been together for a very long time and she has since married. My nephew has just turned 15, and this has been very difficult for him but he is doing ok.

I am going to go now and get on with my cross-stiching.

I haven't been on here for a few days, so thought I'd better check in. Didn't get much stitching done this past week due to my work schedule, but I did work on my Bird RR for a little while last night. Got some housework to do this afternoon, and then I can stitch some more.

I can see that one of these days as soon as I can I would like to get a digital camera so I can post progress pictures on here. I can scan with my computer, but a camera would be much better.

I have only one small experience on anything other than Aida (several years ago, and did not finish it), and all the work I have seen on Teejay's site and others is inspiring me to want to try it. I have one very small project that I can work on to try it. I have all kinds of "stash", but a lot of it is kit form on aida, which I really need to get to work on one of these days. Also have several WIPs that are in dire need of attention.

I have enjoyed hearing from all who have left comments for me, and I am already addicted to gathering stash, and have been for years. I am glad to know that I am nowhere near alone in that!

It's A Beautiful Day

It's a beautiful day here, with the sun shining-a little cold but that's ok. I am enjoying a half-day off from work today, as I work a half-day this coming Saturday.

I found the chart I needed for the next leg of my RR and will get started on that this afternoon. I will scan a picture of it when it is done and post it here.

I am new here

I am new at blogging. I visit a friend's blog and have visited others and decided that I would like to try it as well.

I have not worked on any stitching today, but I did get a RR in the mail yesterday, so that was progress. I am currently looking for a chart and getting the thread ready for the next leg of the RR, which is birds. I have taken part in several RR's over the last couple of years and enjoy them very much. After this one is finished I am thinking of taking a break from them for a little while. I have a friend and fellow stitcher who tells me that the stitch-a-longs are pretty neat to do and I am thinking about looking into doing that. I notice that the ones I have checked out do not use aida, so I will be trying out linen or evenweave, which will be something different for me. It will be good for me to expand my horizons and try new things.
